Before you start, remember that traffic rules are different in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. In the south, they are referred to as kilometres per hour, while in the north they are referred to as miles per hour.
In both cases you drive on the left, and traffic controls may occur in busy areas.
As for speed, here is a general point on the rules in force:
