Don’t let the austere look of Windmill Lane Recording Studios fool you. This massive, sleek building feels more like a bunker than a real recording studio.

Impossible to miss with its white facade and green moldings, the building almost evokes a barricaded Roman temple, with a tiny door in its center.

But the magic is inside. For the studio can boast of having hosted some of the greatest artists of all time! And the list is dizzying! Some of the greatest include David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Damien Rice, PJ Harvey, Van Morrison, Kodaline, Hozier, REM, The Scripts, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Rod Stewart, Depeche Mode, Christy Moore, Snow Patrol, U2, The Cranberries, Phil Lynott, Sinead O’Connor…and many more!

This great line-up of world-class artists would have recorded some of their greatest hits! And the studio alone would be considered as the “home” of U2, used to record emblematic songs of their career!

A studio now open to the public!

The studio has such an aura that it was recently decided to open its doors to visitors as well. Windmill Lane Recording Studios is now one of Dublin’s trendy tourist attractions, which will allow you to discover the musical heritage of the place, the artists who followed one another there, as well as some interesting anecdotes about the studio!

It’s an opportunity to look back on more than 40 years of musical history, to understand who are the artists who passed through there, and to learn the tricks of the trade on how to record a sound in a studio!

Add to that an unusual encounter with Cosmo, a strange ghost who is said to inhabit the premises, and you’ll have a visit that’s as exciting as it is amusing, fun and offbeat, with a touch of Irish humor!
