Wicklow Brewery is an Irish micro-brewery located in Redcross in County Wicklow, Ireland. It produces some very interesting local beers, based on traditional ancestral techniques. A reputable establishment, which agrees to open its doors to reveal its brewing secrets to you.
The History of the Wicklow Brewery is quite amusing. It all started with Ashley and Leigh Williams, who transformed a café into the Mickey Finn, a cool, fun irish pub where it was great to spend time. Soon the regulars started asking if they had any local beers…
This gave them an idea: what if they started brewing their own beer, using water from their own well?
The idea of creating Wicklow Brewing was born.
Today, the brewery produces nice beers, such as Helles, St Kevin’s Red, Weiss, Black 16 Stout, Hopknut and Gingerknut.
The success of these beers was such that today these beers can be found all over the country… But nothing beats tasting it on the spot in the mother house, during a small guided tour in the brewery.
The visit will teach you the secrets of how their beers are made, with an audiovisual presentation, a personalised tour of the brewery and a tasting of 5 samples of their beers. The guides are passionate, cool and friendly. The visit is meant to be friendly, without fuss or high-tech exhibitions: the team prefers simplicity and authenticity.
