Don’t be fooled by the old-fashioned look of the Valentia Heritage Centre. This museum, far from being new, has a very authentic charm! It will offer you a dive into the heart of the history of the island of Valentia!
This museum is certainly not a young museum, and you will find a bit of everything, but some of the exhibitions are quite interesting! Starting with a complete exhibition on the daily life of the island’s inhabitants at the time… Folklore, cultural animations, work and art of fishing, local education… You will know everything about the daily life of the people of the past!
Also don’t miss their exhibition dedicated to the transatlantic telegraph. The island of Valentia was indeed the first island to make history by setting up an international communication system! Samuel Morse, Charles Bright and Cyrus Field were the most notable men working on the project.
open from April to September, every day from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm
