The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is a Dublin distillery based in the Newmarket area. Newly arrived in the capital, it benefits from a know-how dating back to 1782. Its speciality? Irish whiskey of course!
The history of the distillery starts in 1782, when Walter Teeling decides to settle down in the Marrowbone Lane district of Dublin, in order to set up a small artisanal distillery. He had no idea at the time, but this decision was the first step of a family know-how which was going to stretch over more than 230 years!
Very quickly, the small distillery was going to grow considerably: Dubliners seem to appreciate Teeling Whiskey, and the local pubs buy whole cases of it: it’s a success!
On the taste side, Teeling whiskeys have character in the mouth, with sometimes peaty notes. A great classic in the world of Irish whiskey!
So the distillery develops progressively, but will eventually stop its activity.
It is only in 1987, that the descendants of the family decide to re-found the distillery. After several years, it is in 2014 that they decide to move back to the capital, not far from their initial location, in the Newmarket district! A successful relocation, more than 200 years after their ancestor Walter Teeling!
Since 2015, the distillery has been open to visitors: you will discover the secrets of the Teeling family in their whiskey distillation, their love of tradition, and above all, their respect for the ingredients that interfere in the production of their beverage. Some paying workshops may be offered: they will allow you to taste their best whiskeys!
From now on, the distillery is run by Jack and Stephen Teeling: they are particularly attached to their heritage, and wish to mark a new stage in the production of their whiskey!
Unlike most of the other distilleries, they play on the type of maturation, and only do double distillation. This allows to obtain whiskeys with character, rather fine and greedy!
