The Station House Museum is a museum in Clifden entirely dedicated to the Connemara pony. It is housed in the town’s old railway station, where an old railway carriage from the old days stands.

Visit the Station House Museum

A museum about Irish riding and the Connemara pony!

The museum is housed in an old, fully renovated complex, and will give you a good insight into the close relationship between the Irish and the horse. Although the museum is not particularly large, it will introduce you to the history of the horse in Ireland, as well as the equipment used up to the present day…

Carrioles, saddles, harnesses, documents… The exhibition is very well done, and is worth the detour for all horse riding enthusiasts. Above all, you will learn a lot about the Connemara pony, a purebred horse whose international reputation has propelled Connemara to the forefront of the equestrian scene.

The museum also includes a brief history of Clifden, as well as some of the region’s famous native aviators (Alcock and Brown).

Admission is 2€.
