Smithwick’s beer is a real institution in Kilkenny! Brewed for several centuries, all it needed was a museum to attract the crowds!

Now it’s done, and the museum has seen things in a big way!

On the programme, a look back at the history of Smithwick’s distillery, an overview of the different traditional techniques of brewing beer (whether it is brewed in the olden days, in the Middle Ages or nowadays), and tasting of their beverages. You will learn about John Smithwick’s life in Kilkenny during the 18th century, and his vision for the expansion of his brewery.

The museum is magnificent, and easily rivals Dublin’s Guinness Storehouse. Giant screens, authentic medieval décor, and fun and entertaining exhibits You won’t have time to get bored! Beer and history buffs will find it easy to enjoy.

Possibility to leave with a few products from the brewery through the Smithwick’s Experience shop. To be drunk in moderation of course!
