The Moll’s Gap is a mountain pass through Killarney National Park. To discover it by car or by bike, simply take the N71: you can then enjoy exceptional views of the mountains, lakes and surrounding wild forests! A must!
If you enjoy the majestic scenery, then Moll’s Gap is THE destination not to be missed if you’re passing through County Kerry. This pass is accessible via the N71, a rather narrow national road, rich in curves and sometimes narrow passages. A dangerous and very busy road that will require your full attention!
But it’s worth it! Once at the top, you will enjoy an incredible view of Upper Lake, the Black Valley and Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, not to mention the Gap of Dunloe, which you can easily see on a clear day. But the highlight is Ladies View, a stunning vantage point overlooking the whole of Killarney Park. The view is so beautiful that Queen Victoria is said to have allowed her ladies to admire the landscape with her! (A rare privilege, which will have thus earned the name “Ladies View” to the site!).
On the way down from the top of Moll’s Gap towards Kenmare, don’t miss the view of Kenmare Bay: the landscape is magnificent, almost lunar.
