The Lugnaquilla (Log na Coille in Gaelic), is part of the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. It is the highest mountain in the county with its 925 meters of altitude, and would be the thirteenth highest peak in the country! Its summit reveals an impressive view of the Wicklow Mountains National Park!
Lugnaquilla is a rather impressive mountain, which requires no less than 8 hours to climb! Bordered by 2 glacial cirques (North Prison and South Prison), the mountain has an important plateau, overlooking the Wicklow Mountains National Park and the Irish Sea when the weather is clear.
To reach it, go through the Glen of Imaal: this is the most direct route. Don’t go alone, and make sure you have an excellent level: this mountain is demanding, and is mainly for experienced hikers, and perfectly equipped. The difference in altitude is in places rather important and will require a good endurance.
Nevertheless, your efforts will be rewarded by an exceptional panorama!
