For lovers of vintage photography, don’t miss the Lawrence Collection Costume Photography, a permanent photo exhibition located in the town of Bunratty in Ireland. This exhibition gathers the most beautiful pictures of the 1800s and presents the work of William Mervin Laurent…
The exhibition is entirely devoted to the photographic work of William Mervin Laurent, an artist who decided to open his own photo studio in 1865. He was then 24 years old. Located opposite the Genral Post Office in Dublin, on Sackville Street, his studio undertook to exhibit an impressive collection of photographs taken all over Ireland.
This magnificent work now enables Bunratty’s Lawrence Collection to display over 40,000 photographs taken between 1865 and 1914.
The visit is fun, and will allow you to plunge into the heart of the Irish daily life of this period. Nothing is missing: work in the fields, rural daily life in the big cities, war photos… Everything is there to feel all the intensity of Irish history, through remarkable and innovative shots for the time!
One of the best visits to make to Bunratty!
