Visit Kylemore Lough

A lake that stretches for several kilometres in Connemara!

Kylemore Lough is undoubtedly one of the largest lakes in the Connemara region. The N59 runs along its entire length from the north and offers impressive views of the surrounding area and the mountains.

There is little traffic here, except in August when tourist buses come and go non-stop. So prefer a quieter period to soak up the majestic silence of the place.

To be covered by car, bus, or bicycle preferably. The road is flat, and can easily be done on two wheels.

Don’t hesitate to park and take a short walk along the waterfront. The lake has incredible colors, particularly changing according to the weather. The waters are dark and deep, and are home to many freshwater fish, including the famous Irish pike!
