If you like breathtaking cliffs, then we recommend the Kerry Cliffs! These cliffs are located not far from Portmagee, on the famous Iveragh Peninsula, and are on the Ring of Skellig circuit. On the program: ultra cut-out landscapes, exceptional views of the ocean, and an incredible show when it comes to the power of nature! Big advantage: they are as spectacular as the Cliffs of Moher, but much less known!
The tour starts by parking your vehicle in a specially arranged private car park. Count 4€ per person (not per vehicle).
You will then have to walk 300 meters to reach the beginning of the cliffs. The point of view is then grandiose: you will see the Skellig Islands in the distance and you will let yourself be completely captivated by the force of the waves, heard below on the cliffs.
Don’t hesitate to follow the path: the walk is about 800 meters long and is entirely marked out. The site has been laid out to guarantee your safety: guardrails, railings… You will be able to walk serenely without having to worry about your children!
Don’t miss the explanatory panels (in English only), which will teach you more about the cliffs and the birds that nest there. Numerous species of sea birds have indeed made their home in the rocky cavities: shearwaters, puffins, gulls…etc.!
Don’t hesitate to take pictures: the sky and its colours are particularly changing and magnificent!
To take full advantage of it, we advise you to go there in the late afternoon if possible in good weather. Don’t hesitate to cover yourself warmly, and to equip yourself with a windbreaker: it’s blowing hard up there!
Without a doubt the most beautiful site of the Ring of Kerry: the Cliffs of Moher have something to be jealous of!
