Gortmore Viewpoint is located on Bishop’s Road, part of the Causeway Coastal Route. The spot is particularly interesting for its breathtaking views stretching all the way to Donegal and the Islay and Jura Islands off the west coast of Scotland.

We advise you to go there when the weather is clear: otherwise you might be disappointed and see only 30% of the landscape.

Note that the viewpoint has picnic facilities (tables with benches). A good idea to take a break, have lunch while admiring the panorama.

Finally, a monumental sculpture is located on Gortmore: it is a representation of Manannan Mac Lir. Celtic god of the sea, son of the Irish sea god Lir, he is an emblematic figure of Irish culture.

The latter faces the view, and stands in a boat, his arms raised majestically towards the sky. A magnificent, finely crafted statue that pays homage to Irish Celtic mythology, and seems to watch over the region. A pretty symbol that brings an extra cachet to the viewpoint!

Access to Gortmore view point is free. Possibility to improvise a short walk from there to better explore the surroundings. There is a signposted path that allows you to dive into the heart of Irish nature: very nice and exotic.

Note that a simple pair of basketball is enough if you don’t go too far. Otherwise, plan a more consequent equipment.
