Glencar Lake is an Irish lake in County Leitrim. Beautiful and wild, it is an ideal place to walk, fish for wild salmon, and enjoy a total change of scenery! Among its curiosities, don’t miss its magnificent waterfall (the Glencar Waterfall), located in the forest, not far from the shores of the lake: its show is worth the detour!
Glencar Lake is a great place for wilderness lovers. Here you’ll find real postcard-like scenery, with its surrounding mountains, mysterious waters, and verdant shorelines! There is a trail that will take you along the shoreline, giving you the opportunity to admire the view, the birds nesting near the lake, and the Dartry Mountains.
The site is beautiful, bucolic, and the walking trail has the advantage of being suitable for the whole family. Here there is no difference in altitude, nor any difficulty: the walk can be done easily (attention, no handicapped access though).
The shoreline will allow you to walk along the lake from end to end. Don’t hesitate to stop for a break or a picnic near the water. Finally, Glencar Lake is one of the lakes where salmon fishing is allowed! (With the purchase of a permit).
All you have to do is get organized to go and tease the fish, and enjoy the silence of the place… in complete tranquility!
