The Galway Theatre (also known by the Gaelic name Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe) is an Irish theatre in Galway, founded in 1928. Built on the ancient ruins of an Augustinian convent, it is inratable with its red walls and its white and gold sign. A great place if you like the art of comedy!

Visit the Galway Theatre

A theatre that is very much involved in Galway’s cultural life.

Located in the heart of Galway’s historic city centre, the theatre is a popular venue for local residents. People go there to see plays, concerts and film screenings. Particularly present in the cultural life of the city, its programming is rich, contemporary, and accessible to all, whatever the budget.

A lively and dynamic place, which has kept its youthfulness, thanks to the major renovations that took place following an accidental fire, which profoundly damaged the building.

The only downside is that Galway Theatre is ideal if you have a good command of English: pass on your way if you have to attend a play and you don’t really know English, you would be frustrated. But don’t worry about the concerts: the musical language is still universal!
