Errigal Mountain is a mountain in Ireland, located in County Donegal. With a height of 749 meters, this mountain belongs to the Derryveagh Mountains, a gigantic mountain range located in the northwest of the island of Ireland. Errigal Mountain is a real paradise for discerning hikers who want to experience a mountain wilderness at its best!
Errigal Mountain is the mountain with the highest elevation of the entire Derryveagh Mountains range… Very high and with an important difference in altitude, it is the mountain that will require the most endurance in case of ascent…
You will be able to attack the mountain from the southern flank, which is an integral part of Glenveagh National Park. A starting trail will allow you to begin the ascent, but be careful: the slope is steep, and it requires to be rather comfortable.
Arriving at the top of Errigal, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panorama overlooking the Poisoned Glen Valley and the entire Glenveagh National Park.
You will also see the Dunlewey Church, a superb Irish church dating from the 12th century, located at the very foot of Errigal Mountain. The church is located in the middle of nowhere, in large expanses of red and stony moorland … So much to say that the show is simply magnificent!
Don’t forget your camera: it would be a shame not to bring back some souvenirs of this exceptional view! Rain or shine, the panorama will be unparalleled, and will show you the face of an authentic Ireland!
