If you love botany, and discover rare and varied plant species, then take a trip to Doneraile Zoological Park (known as Doneraile Wildlife Park) in County Cork. The park was established in the 18th century, and contains countless plants and other plant life… Enough to make a good walk in the middle of the Irish wilderness! A real kiff, for a much appreciated nature parenthesis!
With a size of 166 hectares, the Doneraile Wildlife Park has enormous potential for walks and discoveries! Whether it is for a simple walk, or a real hike, you will be able to choose from a number of different routes!
As you follow the trails, you will quickly come across some magnificent plants, as well as water features that make you feel like having a picnic on the shore.
With a bit of luck, you will come across magnificent wild deer on your way, which inhabit the park from all sides. You will also come across a building that is currently being renovated: Doneraile Court, the former home of the St Leger family. It is currently closed to visitors, but is expected to open soon.
Don’t hesitate to bring hiking boots and a bag with the necessary things to keep warm and have something to eat: you will be quickly seduced by the surrounding landscapes, with always the desire to go further.
