A different way to discover Galway is to take the Corrib Walk, a walking tour along the river Corrib, located in the city center. An original way to discover Galway, and to soak up its warm and special atmosphere!
The Corrib Walk is a tour that starts just past O’Brien’s Bridge on Bridge Street in downtown Galway. You will then have to follow the road, heading north of the city. You will have the opportunity to walk along the wild banks of Lough Corrib, admiring its natural surroundings, its tree-lined shores and their coexistence with the city.
The walk is very pleasant, peaceful, and will give you a great insight into the daily life of Galway and its people, with its colorful houses, its quiet waters popular with fishermen, and its paths that allow locals to never feel quite in the city.
The path will take you to the Salmon Weir Bridge, an iconic Galway bridge and dam, known for being reeled in by wild salmon between May and September. The sight is well worth the trip!
