The island of Inishmore in Ireland has some of the most beautiful cliffs in the country: the Cliffs of Aran. Magnificent, they have the originality of being ultra cut, almost like a geometric cut. They seem to plunge at right angles to the ocean, displaying magnificent grey granite rocks. A spectacle not to be missed!
In good weather, they are impressively majestic… while in bad weather, they convey a darker, absolutely magnificent atmosphere!
Left in their natural state, they are among the most beautiful natural sites in Ireland. But beware: it is also a dangerous place! Here, there are few guards, and the emptiness is there at all times! Also, avoid walking too close to the edge: a gust of wind, a reckless selfie and the circumstances can be dramatic! Many accidents have already happened as a result of taking unnecessary risks.
If you are careful, note the possibility of walking along the cliffs from end to end. Take a good sweater and a windbreaker, as the ocean air is rather invigorating! You’ll get a real breath of fresh air!
The landscapes around are magnificent. Do not hesitate to take your time, and to visit on your road the Dun Aengus Fort, an Irish prehistoric fort built on the edge of these famous cliffs. The setting is fascinating!
