The Chester Beatty Library is an Irish library, founded in 1950 in Dublin. Although it was eventually relocated near Dublin Castle, it is famous for its incredible collection of works by Sir Alfred Chester Beaty, a wealthy industrialist of the time.

Rare cultural and artistic works

The Library is divided into 2 wings: “Sacred Traditions” and “Artistic Traditions”. For each of them, you will find volumes of great quality, dealing with religion, European, Oriental and Asian culture. Some of the texts are exhibited in showcases, while others can be consulted with permission.

You will be able to admire all the talent and inspiration of the men who devoted themselves to the realization of his works. On the program, books of illumination, calligraphy by hand, parchments, prints, drawings, etchings, and iconographic representations from all countries and all periods!

Some of the books on display sometimes go back several centuries, and constitute a formidable testimony to the History of the World. Many researchers come here to find their inspiration! Theologians in particular take advantage of this opportunity to consult works relating to the Old and New Testament.
