Benone beach

Benone beach is a sublime beach in Limavady in County Derry in Northern Ireland. It has the particularity of being linked to another beach: the Downhill Strand. Together they form the largest beach in the country. An ideal spot for a summer break with the family, and to enjoy the view and the sun!

Benone beach is a famous beach and very popular with locals and travellers alike. It is immense, has dunes and is a natural reserve for fauna and flora.

Its fine sand, and the quality of the water is great, making it a famous beach for swimming. The children enjoy making sand castles, the area is ideal for a game of kite flying, kite-surfing, a nap, or simply a little swim.

Note that the beach is also very well known in the surfing community. Benone beach attracts every year surfers of all levels, who come to test the waves and rollers of the area.

Among other possible activities, we also advise you to walk along Benone beach, if only for the pleasure of walking barefoot on the sand.

In the summer, the beach can be crowded: we advise you to come early in the morning to enjoy it better. Beware of sunburn: even if the Irish climate never seems to be very marked on the warm side, the Irish sun can be treacherous and full of surprises. Don’t forget sunscreen!

Note that the beach can also be visited in autumn and winter: this time, the spot is deserted, and suitable for walking and daydreaming. The beach has an authentic charm and is particularly different in low season!
