While “Riverdance, the animated adventure” was a great success on Netflix, a brand new animated film “made in Ireland” will make its debut on the VOD platform this year. It is My Father’s Dragon, produced by the famous “Cartoon Saloon”, a production company known worldwide for having made masterpieces such as “Brendan and the Secret of Kells“, “Song of the Sea” and “Wolf Walkers”. (The Kilkenny-based animation studio has also been nominated for five Academy Awards).
The new film, highly anticipated, should seduce young and old alike and demonstrate once again the Irish talent in animation!

My Father’s Dragon will be a jewel of animation

A film for the whole family!

With each new film, Cartoon Saloon confirms its talent for entertainment and impeccable images. This will be the case once again with “My Father’s Dragon”, which will tell the epic adventures of Elmer, a little Irish boy who is determined to do anything to save a dragon.

Here’s a look at the synopsys:

Struggling to cope after a move to the city with his mother, Elmer runs away in search of the secret island of Wild Island and a young dragon waiting to be rescued. Elmer’s adventures will take him down many adventurous paths, and bring him across fierce beasts, a mysterious island and an unforgettable friendship.

The story was directly inspired by the children’s book by Ruth Stiles Gannett and promises a tale of adventure and bravery. Children will undoubtedly enjoy this beautiful story involving a dragon and a child. A winning recipe that should offer many viewings to Netflix!

For now, the platform has not yet communicated an official release date. But the program should make its entry by 2022 (in France and other countries as well).

So you’ll have to be patient: in the meantime, you can already (re)discover other Irish animated films on Netflix, like “Angela’s Christmas”, or “Riverdance, the animated adventure”, still available on the platform! It’s always a pleasure to watch them!
