What to expect?

Among Galway’s must-see districts, don’t miss the “Latin Quarter” (“Quartier Latin” in English). Very touristy and popular, this trendy part of the city is famous for its many restaurants and irish pubs. It’s the equivalent of the Temple Bar district in Dublin!

Visit the Latin Quarter of Galway

A high concentration of irish pubs and restaurants!

The Latin Quarter is located in the heart of Galway’s city centre. It is the place where Galway locals love to go for a drink. The area is friendly, with its colourful facades, craft shops, and many places to eat and drink.

Generally speaking, the area is a young and dynamic place, which is one of the best spots for big events like Saint Patrick’s Day. At these times, the whole district vibrates to the rhythm of music and popular songs.

On the irish pub and restaurant side, you will easily find your account there: there is no lack of addresses, and the cards are varied. The rates are not very bad, and you have a great time on the spot! Among the establishments to know, we highly recommend you “The Quays”, an original irish pub, whose interior decoration looks like the hull of a galleon: good mood guaranteed!

Many establishments also offer Irish music sessions in the evenings, where local groups come to perform great classics from the Irish repertoire. A new opportunity to dive into the heart of Irish culture and dance the night away!

Some shops will also offer you the opportunity to stock up on souvenirs. Silver jewellery, Irish sweaters, Claddagh rings, postcards and musical instruments are just some of the items you can buy!

Certainly, some shops are real tourist attractions, but there is a way to have fun without ruining yourself…

A rather pleasant district, and which even has a nice youth hostel, very appreciated by tourists looking for cheap and friendly accommodation…
