Loop Head Peninsula

Loop Head Peninsula

If you don’t want to face the tourist crowds of the Cliffs of Moher, then we advise you to go and discover the Loop Head Peninsula in County Clare. On the program, a spectacular panorama, on the cliffs, a lighthouse and the ocean!

Visit Loop Head Peninsula

A wild site unknown to tourists!

Loop Head is a small jewel of wilderness, located south-east of Kilkee, north of the Dingle Peninsula.

It offers a magnificent view of a very indented coastline, alternating cliffs and grassy plateaus of an intense green! Be careful however if you walk on the edge of the cliffs: the wind is strong, and it is advised for your safety not to be too close to the edge!

You can also admire the Loop Head Lighthouse, a magnificent lighthouse watching over the ocean and its ships… Unstoppable with its immaculate white facade, it has a rather typical charm, and has a fascinating history! Rather imposing, it has not only a lighthouse, but also outbuildings that you can visit depending on the season (harder in the middle of summer).

Note that access to Loop Head is easy and free. So there’s no need for a paying car park like the one at Les Falaises de Moher! The area is ideal for a short hike in the open air: however, remember to cover yourself well, the location of the cliffs of Loop Head make it a very windy place!

You should also prefer a good pair of hiking boots: some trails are sometimes extremely muddy!

Your walk along the coast will also be an opportunity to admire the fauna and flora of Loop Head, with its endangered species, rare plants and magnificent sea birds! Enough to take superb pictures in front of the ocean, in a paradisiacal setting!
