Lemon Curd is an Anglo-Saxon cream made from lemon, eggs, sugar and flour. Very sweet, the Irish appreciate its tangy side, which goes perfectly on bread, a scone, or a lemon meringue tartlet. This type of lemon cream can also be found on the breakfast table at a traditional Irish breakfast.

Delicious, it makes the most greedy crack by its clever balance of flavors, between sugar and acidity. A gourmet mixture that you won’t want to do without!

Irish people consume it quite regularly in their daily lives, whether it is for an Irish breakfast or a snack break, all accompanied by a traditional Irish tea.

It is quite easy to find it in supermarkets and shops in Ireland. They are usually packaged as a standard spread in a glass jar. Count between 4 and 8€ depending on the quality you want. Don’t hesitate to test it: it’s a treat!

Lemon Curd Recipe


  • 4 washed lemons
  • 150 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of flour (or cornflour)


  • Zest the peel of 2 lemons, then slice them finely.
  • Place the zest and juice of the 4 lemons in a saucepan.
  • Then pour in the sugar and flour.
  • Heat over low heat, stirring regularly.
  • Break your eggs in a separate bowl and beat them.
  • Then add them to the preparation of your pan, stirring regularly.
  • Then increase the heat under your saucepan, and beat vigorously until the cream thickens.
  • All you have to do is turn off the heat and put it in a jar.
  • Let cool before storing in the fridge.
  • It’s a real treat!
