Bacon and Cabbage

Du bacon and cabbage

Another traditional Irish dish that honours potatoes and kale! As nutritious as it is delicious, Bacon and Cabbage can be eaten as a side dish with bacon or bacon, keeping the Irish warm on cold winter evenings!

Presentation

A dish made from Irish local produce

In Ireland, Bacon and Cabbage is a traditional dish that uses products that are historically very important to Ireland: kale, potatoes, as well as tasty slices of bacon or corned beef.

These were simple products but at the time they were more accessible than others: indeed, Ireland has lived in poverty for many centuries. Cabbage and potatoes were therefore accessible foods that the Irish learned to accommodate.

And the result is an amazing dish with a great taste! Usually eaten with a fresh pint of Irish stout, this dish is ideal in winter and warms up even the coldest of bodies.

On the flavour side, there is a clever balance between the sweetness of the potato and the acidity of the cabbage… All balanced by the bacon.

Note that Bacon and Cabbage can be found quite easily in Ireland… Especially in Irish restaurants, but also in the traditional Irish pubs with on-site catering.

Count minimum 12€ the dish per person… A hearty and comforting dish, perfect after a day spent exploring Ireland, its wilderness and cities!
