Flagship of the Midleton distillery in County Cork, the Tullamore Dew is one of the best Irish whiskeys ever produced on the island. Listed in the top 3 most sold Irish whiskeys in the world, it is the result of a tradition which has been going on since 1829. Here is an overview of this high quality alcohol.

History of the Tullamore Dew

A Whiskey produced since 1829

The history of Tullamore Dew starts in 1829, when a rich entrepreneur decides to found his own distillery, and to name it Tullamore Dew. He then produces a high quality whiskey, made with ancestral techniques where the whiskey is distilled 3 times in big stills. Very quickly, the whiskey takes itself the name of the distillery and is then marketed under the name of Tullamore Dew.

After several decades of regular production, the distillery closed in the 1950’s, after some financial difficulties. The Midleton distillery then decides to buy the distillery, and to produce this whiskey.

Specificities of Tullamore Dew

A whiskey with strong aromas

Contrary to popular belief, the Tullamore Dew is a whiskey that is particularly soft in the mouth, and rather pleasant. We appreciate its finesse, as well as the great richness of its aromas, particularly tasty.

Full, lively and subtle at the same time, this blend exhales smoky cereal aromas and is traditionally served without ice. Many pubs in Ireland offer it among their spirits.
